Posted on May, 30 2025

On May 30, the Armenian delegation participated in the Annual Meeting of the Regional Consultative Forum of the Eco-Corridor Fund for the Caucasus (ECF) project, held in Tbilisi.

The delegation included representatives from the Ministry of Environment, “Hayantar” SNCO, the Eco-Patrol Service, community-based organizations (CBOs), WWF-Armenia, and administrative leaders from ECF beneficiary communities. The diverse group reflected Armenia’s strong engagement in the project and ongoing efforts to promote landscape-level conservation.

During the forum, participants reviewed progress made under Phase II of the ECF project in 2024 and 2025. Discussions focused on advancing the Kunming-Montreal targets of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, with particular emphasis on the role of Other Effective Conservation Measures (OECMs). The agenda also included approaches to biodiversity conservation and climate change mitigation and adaptation across the South Caucasus.

The Armenian delegation delivered presentations highlighting the contribution of ECF beneficiary communities to national biodiversity goals. In particular, the delegation emphasized their role in Armenia’s national plan to conserve 30% of the country’s land by 2030 — a key target under the Kunming-Montreal framework.

The meeting provided a valuable platform to exchange experiences and strengthen regional cooperation in support of nature conservation and climate resilience.
