Posted on July, 24 2025

On July 17–18, WWF-Armenia organized a two-day training under the Biodiversity and Sustainable Local Development in Armenia project, supported by the Government of Germany through KfW. The training focused on enhancing the capacities of government and protected area specialists to implement the Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF) and the Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP) effectively.

The training brought together specialists from the Ministry of Environment, Protected Area administrations, ArmForest management units, and the Eco-Patrol service. Participants were introduced to the core principles, structure, and operational requirements of the ESMF and SEP, deepening their understanding of environmental, social, health, and safety (ESHS) risk identification, classification, and mitigation.

Attendees gained practical skills in stakeholder mapping, engagement planning, and grievance redress mechanisms, ensuring they are equipped to facilitate environmentally responsible and socially inclusive project implementation across Armenia.

The training concluded with a discussion on next steps for institutional strengthening, aiming to support sustainable management and responsible development practices throughout the lifecycle of projects in Armenia.
