WWF-Armenia Strengthens Strategic Partnership with the Ministry of Environment Ahead of CBD COP17

Minister of Environment of the Republic of Armenia Hambardzum Matevosyan met with Ms. Kirsten Schuijt, Director General of WWF International, to discuss ongoing environmental initiatives and upcoming priorities related to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) COP17.

The discussion also emphasized the strategic partnership between WWF-Armenia and the Ministry within CBD COP17, highlighting joint efforts to ensure Armenia’s active and effective role in shaping the COP17 agenda.

During the meeting, the parties reviewed current biodiversity projects in Armenia, including the Reintroduction of the Red Deer in Armenia, and discussed the development of Ecological Corridors.

The discussion also emphasized the strategic partnership between WWF-Armenia and the Ministry within CBD COP17. Minister Matevosyan appreciated WWF’s strategic recommendations and reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to conduct COP17 with transparency, inclusivity and effective international engagement.

The collaboration will continue to advance both national biodiversity initiatives and Armenia’s contributions to the global conservation agenda.
